Volunteer of the Month: Dr. Dodd Sims, MD, PCP
Each month we spotlight a volunteer making an impact at Culmore Clinic. This month we feature one of our newest volunteers, Dr. Dodd Sims, MD, a Spanish speaking primary care physician volunteering with Culmore Clinic every Thursday!
Dr. Sims has a special interest in healthcare for the under served. He has made a number of trips to Central America as a volunteer doctor and sees patients regularly in a neighborhood clinic in Alexandria. His work with immigrant patients has allowed him to pursue his passion for languages. He regularly uses Spanish and French, which is a huge benefit for Culmore Clinic patients. He is an avid runner and has completed three marathons. He has a masters in theology which allows him to combine his interests in medicine and ethics.
He grew up in Texas. He received an undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Colorado and graduated from Rush Medical School in Chicago. He returned to Texas to complete his internal medicine residency.
Dr. Sims is married to his high school sweetheart and has four children. The oldest is a pediatrician at Children's Hospital in DC. The youngest is a social worker. We are so luck to have Dr. SIms with us! Please welcome him in the comments below.
